These are like Gods own television screens! Moreover skylights will usually bring in more light than windows and are a great alternative to artificial lighting. Skylights have been used in housing and other architecture from time immemorial and these can never go out of style. Very often skylights have been found in old churches. They add certain warmth and charm to the somber interiors. Skylights are used frequently in modern architecture as well and many modern malls hospitals restaurants and other large public places make use of skylights for natural daylight to light up common areas. When selected carefully and installed an energy-efficient skylight can help minimize heating cooling and lighting costs to very large extent.
There is a dimmer type of switch located in the room and with the help of this switch you may open shut or adjust the venting skylight and even fine tune the angle to which you want it tilted. Nowadays the vent roof skylights have become virtually leak proof. The venting roof skylights have great flashing systems which prevent any sort of leakage. But dont think that you may merrily leave the venting skylight open even during storm and rain. Then the water will definitely enter your house. In case the roof skylight has got wet all that you have to do is shut the vent roof skylight and wipe it dry. Just like every other thing you may accessorize the vent skylights too.
Glass and acrylic or plastic skylights are available. Tubular skylights are relatively new on the scene. The small size allows them it to be used in spaces where full-sized skylights cannot. Hallways bathrooms even closets can accommodate a tubular skylight. They provide a lot of light in spite of their small size. The concept and installation process are basically the same as for a regular skylight except they have an enclosed tunnel of reflective material to reflect the light. They are available in many sizes. The small ones are 10 to 12 inch diameter and the large ones are 24 inches. Flat glass skylights come mounted in a wood or integrated rubber and metal framework and require no additional curb construction.
